Vehicles in Germany's City Found Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Police Report

Police stated they were contacted by a individual who discovered a car in Hanau covered with red-colored substance

Around fifty cars have been smeared with what appears to be human blood in the German town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to police.

Automobiles, exterior walls and mailboxes were marked, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they reported in a statement.

Police report they were notified during the night on Wednesday night, when a individual observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish fluid.

The substance had been placed in the shape of a swastika, they added.

Officers then discovered numerous other marked vehicles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.

These symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws prohibiting the public display of Nazi symbols.

Police report preliminary tests show the liquid was most likely blood from a person.

"There is still no indication as to its source; authorities are not yet cognizant of any physical harm in association with the incident," they commented.

Local authorities announced they were attempting "to unravel the mystery" and have asked to the community for information.

A high-ranking representative stated the attack rendered him stunned and needed to be resolved promptly.

"This incident affects the center of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the extremist terrorist attack five years ago," he stated on social media, mentioning the death of nine individuals by a gunman aiming at people of migrant background in February 2020.
