19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been achieved on hardcourt

A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his initial trophy for 882 days with success over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has had a difficult period, managing just one win at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.

His varied form on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serve in specific - resulted in him falling of the elite rankings and finally splitting with former coach his previous coach.

Now training with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually improved in the recent weeks - climaxing in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over opponent Moutet.

It is Medvedev's initial trophy following the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hardcourt from spring of the previous year.

Success also means Medvedev has secured 21 championships at 21 distinct events.

"For the first time I have attended a competition with my children simultaneously, so to get a title is especially meaningful," stated tennis professional Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my child her name, because the initial championship I won when my older daughter her name was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had lost his past six title deciders, featuring in that event earlier this year.

Medvedev's defensive approach and regular emotional displays on the playing surface had led some to doubt if his skill to play at the highest level was over.

However the athlete has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, attempting to approach the net and compete assertively, supported by an better serve.

He came back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the tricky opponent, taking 4 of the concluding five exchanges to gain the advantage.

Both players swapped service breaks in the second set before Moutet, striving for his initial tour championship, took control to push for a third set.

He saved four early break points in a competitive third set before the Russian secured a break to 15 to serve for the match.

Appropriately, he secured victory with a shot at the net area, with his opponent failing to control a shot after over two and a half hours.
